We both think that the role of women and health is important to other social issues such as the fight against poverty, development, malnutrition, and the fight against discrimination, especially against women,” she informed. She also discussed with Mr. Dalley the role that the World Health Assembly has to play in the area of health.Mrs. Salgado, said that if she were to become the new Director General, she would address issues relating to the poor and their health needs. Her focus would be providing sustainable aid to countries as well as stop the brain drain of medical workers from less developed countries, as she said this activity was damaging the health systems of these countries.“The WHO also has to focus on accountability, transparency, efficiency in the centre of the WHO agenda and we have to continue the fight against diseases that we know and those that we do not know”.She is the first Cabinet Minister from Spain to visit Jamaica. Canada lists 13 new groups as terrorist entities and completes review of seven others From: Public Safety CanadaCanadians expect their government to take all necessary steps to keep them safe, while safeguarding their values, their rights and freedoms and the open, inclusive character of our country. The Criminal Code listing regime is an important tool for countering terrorism in Canada and globally, and is part of that commitment. The Government of Canada has placed 13 new groups on the Criminal Code list of terrorist entities, including four ideologically motivated violent extremist groups: Atomwaffen Division, the Base, the Proud Boys and Russian Imperial Movement. In addition, Canada has also listed:three Al Qaida affiliates: Jama’at Nusrat Al-Islam Wal-Muslimin, Front de Libération du Macina, and Ansar Dinefive Daesh affiliates: Islamic State West Africa Province, Islamic State in the Greater Sahara, Islamic State in Libya, Islamic State East Asia, and Islamic State – BangladeshHizbul MujahideenBased on their actions, each group meets the legal threshold for listing as set out in the Criminal Code, which requires reasonable grounds to believe that an entity has knowingly participated in or facilitated a terrorist activity, or has knowingly acted on behalf of, at the direction of, or in association with such an entity. The Criminal Code mandates severe penalties for people and organizations that deal with property or finances of a listed entity. A listing can also support the denial or revocation of a Canadian organization’s charitable status if it maintains connections to listed entities. Furthermore, persons seeking entry into Canada may be inadmissible if they are found to be associated with a listed entity. A listing also helps to facilitate the removal of an entity’s online content. The Government of Canada will continue to identify and target entities that meet the threshold for listing, regardless of their ideology, as a means to apply significant consequences on these groups and the individuals that support them.Quotes“Violent acts of terrorism have no place in Canadian society or abroad. Today’s additions to the Criminal Code list of terrorist entities are an important step in our effort to combat violent extremism in all forms. Canadians expect their Government to keep them safe and to keep pace with evolving threats and global trends, such as the growing threat of ideologically motivated violent extremism. The Government of Canada will continue to take appropriate actions to counter terrorist threats to Canada, its citizens and its interests around the world.”– The Honourable Bill Blair, Minister of Public Safety and Emergency PreparednessQuick factsWith these additions, there are now 73 terrorist entities listed under the Criminal Code.In 2019, Canada listed two ideologically motivated violent extremist groups: Blood & Honour and Combat 18.When an entity is placed on the list, banks and financial institutions freeze its assets. It is a crime to knowingly deal with the assets of a listed entity. Listings also help obstruct assistance from sympathizers and supporters in Canada by criminalizing certain support activities, including those related to terrorist travel, training and recruitment. The assessments for new terrorist listings are an on-going process. New entities are only added once it has been determined that they meet the legal threshold. There is also a requirement to review each entity on the list every five years to determine whether it should remain on the list. The following seven entities were recently assessed and it was concluded that they warrant continued listing: Al Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula, Al Qaida in the Indian Subcontinent, Al Shabaab, Islamic State – Khorasan Province, Al-Ashtar Brigades, and Fatemiyoun Division. /Public Release. The CO2 used is currently supplied by a biogas facility. In addition, initially a portion of the CO2 needed is extracted from the ambient air by means of direct air capturing, a technology of Audi’s Zurich‑based partner Climeworks. The synthetic e-fuel is free from sulfur and aromatic hydrocarbons, and tests show it is suitable for mixing with fossil diesel or, prospectively, for use as a fuel in its own right.“In developing Audi e-diesel we are promoting another fuel based on CO2 that will allow long‑distance mobility with virtually no impact on the climate,” said Reiner Mangold, Head of Sustainable Product Development at Audi. “Using CO2 as a raw material represents an opportunity not just for the automotive industry in Germany, but also to transfer the principle to other sectors and countries.”(READ more from Audi) – Story submitted by Jéan van wyngaardtAddThis Sharing ButtonsShare to FacebookFacebookFacebookShare to TwitterTwitterTwitterShare to EmailEmailEmailShare to RedditRedditRedditShare to MoreAddThisMore The Dresden energy technology corporation sunfire, Audi’s project partner, operates according to the power‑to‑liquid principle, using green power to produce a liquid fuel. The science of it all breaks down like this: water is heated up to form steam, then broken down into hydrogen and oxygen by means of high-temperature electrolysis. Then, the hydrogen reacts with the CO2 in synthesis reactors, creating a reaction product made from long‑chain hydrocarbon compounds known as “blue crude.” AddThis Sharing ButtonsShare to FacebookFacebookFacebookShare to TwitterTwitterTwitterShare to EmailEmailEmailShare to RedditRedditRedditShare to MoreAddThisMoreInstead of dumping more CO2 into the environment through its tailpipes, this German car company is recycling carbon dioxide to make green fuel.Audi has successfully created a high-quality diesel fuel by combining water and C02 and started producing it earlier this week at their research facility in Dresden.“If we can make widespread use of CO2 as a raw material, we will make a crucial contribution to climate protection and the efficient use of resources, and put the fundamentals of the “green economy” in place,” said Federal Minister of Education and Research Professor Dr. Johanna, who put the first five liters into her own Audi A8 3.0 yesterday.IKEA Pledges Over a Billion Dollars to Help Slow Climate Change

WE had all read and seen the news of someone taking his talents – again – to somewhere and that, in professional sports, no matter the millions, walang forever. Yes, he was the biggest news not only on the first day of the NBA Free Agent raffle but immediately after being swept by a ridiculously superior team in last June’s NBA Finals. The team’s back-to-back title run was overshadowed by this super athlete’s anticipated move. All deals and transactions at the moment are agreements in principle between players and teams since nothing had been put on paper yet. Transactions become official on the midnight of July 7, Philippine time, when they formally affix their signatures on the dotted line.LeBron James made the biggest splash when he jumped ship and chose the LA Lakers to showcase his talents. A four-year, $154-million deal was agreed with a player option on the last year, meaning by all means, he can again take his talents outside of LA if things don’t work out. LBJ will sure bring in shiploads of bandwagon fans to LA LA Land, with a good majority of GSW haters.Joining him in the Laker exodus from different locations are Lance Stephenson (Indiana, one year $4.5 million), JaVale McGee (GSW, one year, $2.4 million) and Rajon Rondo (New Orleans, one year, $9 million). Kentavious Caldwell-Pope had his tour of duty with the Lakers extended by a year for the sweet tune of $12 million. I’m particularly not happy of the LAL letting go of Julius Randle but it is management decision. He’s now with New Orleans on a two-year, $18 million deal. Reportedly, former Laker Dwight Howard, now with Brooklyn, wants to be back in LA and play with LeBron. The center position is what the team needs to strengthen and Howard just might fit in. Maybe they can swap places with Brook Lopez who came to LA from the Nets. Question is: Will LAL take him back? For Howard to be back in LA, he needs to complete a buyout agreement with the Nets.Among the notables, for several million reasons, Rudy Gay (SAS, $10 million, one year), Paul George (OKC, $137 million, four years), Derrick Favors (UTA, $36 million, two years), Kevin Durant (GSW, $61.5 million, two years), Nikola Jokic (DEN $146.5 million, five years), Chris Paul (HOU $160 million, four years), and Aaron Gordon (ORL, $82 million, four years) decided to stay put with their respective teams.DeAndre Jordan joins Dirk Nowitzki in Dallas for a year at $24 million. Trevor Ariza relocated to Phoenix on a one-year, $15-million deal. Marco Belinelli reunites with the Spurs for a two-year, $12-million contract. Golden State now has five All-Stars with the arrival of DeMarcus cousins. The Warriors got him for a bargain at $5.3 million for one season. Derrick Rose remains in Minnesota for another season with $2.4 million.Reportedly Clint Capella as of this writing is having talks with the Lakers. It was also reported that another Laker target, Kawhi Leonard, had ran out of San Antonio’s favor and the team had ongoing negotiations with Philadelphia. The Spurs want three future first-round picks from the Sixers and two current players who were not specified. Leonard had not changed his mind with his strong desire to play with the Lakers. With the current player migration, there is now a great disparity in the league. The West had become more loaded, Golden State specifically. And this early the Warriors are in for a three-peat. Hold your horses Laker Nation. We had become playoff contenders but having LeBron in is not a title guarantee. At least Magic Johnson won’t be stepping down as president of basketball operations for the next two years./PN
3rd Mark Cooper (13) 35pts4th Mike Hill (20) 33pts5th Brendan Dunne (30) 33pts6th Peter Skinner (10) 31ptsWalter O’Keefe ,Peter Buckley & Walter Panichi. The high season appeared to have arrived with a vengeance after a five and a half hour round started off the week and a few of the hopefuls had almost lost the will to live by the time they had reached the eighteenth green. One group, one of whom had thoughtfully brought a pack of cards, managed to play several rounds of bridge during the layovers on the par threes where an assembly of four groups was the norm. But at least the weather was good, being slightly overcast, and the fairways were exceptionally wide and the greens flat.Walter O’Keefe started off what was to be an exceptionally successful week of golf by returning his best score ever in Thailand since first travelling here, during the North American winters, at beginning of January 2013. His previous best, three higher, was also scored at Crystal Bay, so it is obviously a course that he relishes, and on this day he swept aside the rest of the field by a fair margin to take the win.Mark Williams got the closest to him, taking second spot four shots adrift after he had returned his best result of this trip, scoring level nineteens on each half.Mark Cooper made it a happy return with his third place, two ahead of the count back for fourth. Mike Hill won that with a better 20 to 18 to consign Brendan Dunne into fifth as Peter Skinner struggled through the marathon back nine to take the last step of the podium in sixth.Peter Buckley took the second division 2’s pot while Walter O’Keefe and Mark Williams shared the first division’s spoils.Wednesday, Dec. 30, Pattana A & B (yellow tees) – StablefordCSS 741st Walter O’Keefe (14) 37pts2nd Peter Buckley (20) 36pts3rd Walter Panichi (4) 34pts4th Peter Skinner (10) 33pts5th Adrian Cook (13) 33pts6th Hal Hart (21) 32ptsAnother day, another course, and one in tip top condition as usual, but the same winner.Walter O’Keefe put in another solid performance that was notable, even though the slightly forward tees were in play, as the course still measured almost 6,500 yards and anything short of the green stopped short due to the heavy watering that had obviously taken place earlier in the day.An eighteen front and nineteen back was just enough to see him home again as second placed Peter Buckley almost caught up over the last two, but Walter’s stunning birdie on the par five last did the trick.Walter Panichi may well have thought that he would be pressing for the top spot as the going was particularly difficult around the greens, but two over handicap was only sufficient to garner third place on a day that saw some quality golf from the leaders.Peter Skinner won a count back for fourth over Adrian Cook, scoring a better 19 to 18 on the back nine holes to leave Hal Hart in sixth after he had come out top in a multi-count back by a single point. There were no 2s in the second division but Walter O’Keefe had another one in the first division but had to share again, this time with Alan Pilkington who had two.Friday, Jan 1, Greenwood A & B – StablefordCSS 721st Walter O’Keefe (14) 36pts2nd Walter Panichi (4) 35pts3rd Peter Buckley (20) 34pts4th Mark Williams (7) 29pts5th David Dines (7) 28ptsThe New Year began with quite a few missing faces, the previous day’s activities obviously having taken their toll, and those that appeared were split between those wanting to just go home and those looking for a “hair of the dog”. But after the organiser replenished their spirits with his cheery “Happy New Year” greeting, the day just got better and better, well at least for a couple of them.It was certainly another cheerful day for Walter O’Keefe, who equaled the group’s record with his third win in the same week, and resulted in a referral to the Ethics Committee to consider if his play during the week was unfair, and possibly even illegal, with regard to the rest of the hopefuls, many of whom had not figured even once during his week of dominance. But in the end the plaint was returned as they were too far busy with many other matters of much greater importance. But at least the day’s rounds were completed much quicker as the course was unsurprisingly under utilised with many other groups not playing on the holiday.Walter’s round was his worst of the week, but even with the course in good condition, with a strong breeze scoring was perhaps the most difficult of the week and he needed a strong finish to stay just ahead of the nearest challengers.Once again it was the other Walter, Panichi, who pressed the hardest, just failing to keep up the momentum over the eighteen closing with an uncharacteristic two over for the inward half, three worse than his opening nine and so had to settle for second place.Peter Buckley again showed well in third, finishing strongly after both Mark Williams, who slipped up slightly through the back nine, and David Dines, still struggling to get back into form, could not make up the leeway. With the course playing so hard, and the factoring in the previous night, it was not surprising that there were no 2s in either of the divisions as many of the players had great difficulty in focusing on anything other than the refreshment bottles.Note: If you would like to play with The Haven group, you can contact 038 710 988 or call in to The Haven Hotel, 185 Soi 13, situated between Beach Road and 2nd Road. Powered by Firework Whatever opinion one holds of Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, his ‘passion’ is probably a part of it – for all the right reasons , might they add. The German manager has taken man-management to another level , a level which is rare to see in top flight football. Star man and defender Virgil Van Dijk has lifted the lid on the impact this kind of character has on the players.Advertisement Van Dijk said: “I remember talking to the manager about the transfer fee Liverpool paid for me and he just said, ‘Listen, all good things cost a lot of money’.“I thought it was a great thing to come out with – and it shows why Jurgen Klopp was one of the main reasons I came to this club.Advertisement “I remember meeting the boss for the first time. We had a really good talk and he just gave me the right confidence.“There is something about Klopp that makes him stand out. It’s not just his energy, I think it’s his man- management.Advertisement “Klopp makes you feel great. He is genuinely pleased to see you in the morning and that has a big effect on the players who come in.“Just look at the hugs he gives us all at the end of games. It is only a bit of affection, something very small, but it makes you feel great.“And yet, he can be stone-hard the next day and put you in your place when you have made mistakes.“He will do that in front of the entire squad, but we all accept it because we know it is not something personal.“Klopp has shown in so many moments that he cares about us – and that’s why he is able to demand so much from us all.” Advertisement
